So these last 2 weeks have been full of firsts! This weeks first was my first tornado watch/warning. On Tuesday (May 24) We had sever weather watches. So Steve left for work as usual around 9:30. I stayed at the apartment and just kept an eye on the weather and listened to the radio. I really didn’t think it was going to be much but wanted to know what was going on. Steve came home and we ran to the store to grab some stuff. We got back around 4-4:15. The weather at this point was starting to look like it could be a thunderstorm. We continued to listen to the radio and around 4:30 the first tornado was sited north of us. They started telling different counties to take cover. Soon after this our tornado alarm went off, that was our cue to take cover. We had debated weather to go find shelter somewhere else but we were told it was best to stay where we were. So off we went to our little bathroom with flashlights, 72 hour kit, radio, map and uno cards. We sat in there listening to the reports, texting our parents and playing uno till about 6. It was a scary experience but it strengthened my testimony of personal preparedness and made us more grateful for what we have. We crawled into bed that night and were so thankful we still had a bed to get into!
Heh heh! Glad it turned out okay. And what a fun memory that will be to look back on! :)
