The one where miracles happen.

Merriam-Webster defines a miracle as: an unusual or wonderful event to be caused by the power of God.

Yesterday Steve and I experienced a miracle.

Yesterday could have ended so much differently than it did.

We woke up Wednesday morning to snow in Logan and soon found out I-84 was closed due to snow and wind causing it to drift. So we headed out to I-15 and onto I-86. I-15 was pretty yucky but by the time we got close to Pocatello it started clearing up and after getting on I-86 the roads were really good.

We continued on our way with the only problem being one of our windshield wipers rubber was sliding out because the cap fell off. No big deal we stopped and put a paperclip on it and it worked great. We didn't even need it the weather was good.

We got to the raft river area and hit a spot that had snow blown over the road. Just a random snow blown drifty spot that didn't look very big or bad as it was.

That's what got us.

We had just finished passing a semi and hit the snow going a good amount of speed. The back of our Gerty started skidding back and forth. Steve was doing all the things he knew he should to try and gain control.

Everything was in slow motion and silent.

 Next thing we knew we were sliding/driving sideways (passenger side) through the median. We both were just waiting for the car to flip for it to be over.

We get to the other lane of traffic (yes the other lanes going the opposite direction) drive over that road and come to a stop on the side of the road facing the opposite direction we were going.

We don't know how we didn't hit another car. Or how we didn't flip. How we didn't hit a fence, a pole, sign...

There are so so so many things that could have gone wrong.

Turned out differently.

All we know is we weren't alone in our car.

Steve wasn't driving by himself.

Nothing happened to us, our car, or other cars/people.

We are able to celebrate Christmas together with our families and not in a hospital room or worse.

We didn't even get stuck in the snow on the side of the road. We were able to get out and turn around on an emergency turn around not far from us and continue on our trip after offering a prayer of gratitude.

We are grateful for unexplained miracles. For a Heavenly Father who has a plan for us. We are thankful for all those who pray for us and our safety. This Christmas has turned from a normal almost routine to something special. Another Christmas we get to spend together.
